Goodbye, 2021!
Thank goodness this year was so much calmer than last! While it wasn’t the post-pandemic year we had hoped for after all the craziness of 2020, we inched a bit towards freedom in comparison to life a year ago. I’m here to declare yearly recaps a tradition on my blog from here on out, so read on for my recap of 2021!
January - May
This good chunk of time consisted of being stuck at home because of quarantine and trying to figure out how to settle into city life. Lots of Zoom workouts and walks to the Bay Bridge were involved, but nothing else all too exciting.
Gyms, indoor seating at restaurants, stores, and my office eventually opened back up again, which made life in SF a bit more normal. The vaccine also rolled out to everyone which I was so excited about because we love science and being a safe member of society!
June
Traveling was back on the list of things to do, yay! My first flight since coming back to the US from Brazil back in January 2020 — and now it was time for Vegas for my birthday. The first taste of real freedom in a long time.
This was a cute lil couples trip with my mans and my best friends since childhood and their boyfriends!
July
Back-to-back trips, whew. I spent the 4th of July weekend in San Diego to reunite with my best friends from college! It was a beautiful and fun getaway for the summertime and holiday.
We spent days at the beach soaking up the sun, and nights at the bars in Pacific Beach and Gaslamp!
September
My cousins and I took a little family trip to visit our family in Seattle. My cousin there had a baby last year so we finally got to reunite with their family and meet the little one!
(though the babies aren’t featured in this pic)
October
Last big trip of the year, I went to Hawaii with my family! My dad retired a month before, and my aunt finally convinced my parents that we should visit her in Maui.
It was amazing getting to escape to the sunny skies and 80 degree weather in Hawaii in the middle of fall for a little over a week!
November
I went on a little weekend trip back to good ole San Jose to reunite with some of my friends from Hall Gov in college. We spent all day eating the good food we missed, and all night playing games and watching funny videos on YouTube.
I also was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with family this year, since COVID cases weren’t too bad at the time, thank goodness!
December
After a year and a half, I finally got to walk for graduation! Now it’s goodbye to the old stomping grounds forever.
I also got to see some family for Christmas but the rona, unfortunately, prevented us from seeing a lot of family. On the bright side, it was a step in the right direction in comparison to Christmas being fully Zoom last year.
On top of that, I was able to spend the break between Christmas and New Years with my boyfriend’s family in San Luis Obispo which was such a refreshing and fun time!
